"The Sky of Our Childhood" (2024, Kyrgyzstan) is a documentary film presented in March 2024 at the Chingiz Aitmatov Cinema House. Director Suyum Sulaimanova and her team created a study on air pollution in Kyrgyzstan: the smog that has enveloped the skies of a new generation, symbolically contrasting the bright clear sky of our childhood with the current gray reality. The film combines testimonies of former ministers, deputies, local and international experts who talk about the composition of smog, its consequences for health, and the environment.
On March 5, 2024, a discussion based on the film "The Sky of Our Childhood" was held, organized by the Green Alliance of Kyrgyzstan, Green4, and the Public Foundation Dobrosfera, and the Cinema House with the support of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek.
♻️Today, the problem of air pollution is relevant both in Bishkek and on the world stage.
🌐💨Since representatives of different professional communities are involved in the problem of living in smog conditions, one of the key steps in solving the problem is the creation and development of an intersectoral dialogue affecting the economic, governmental and cultural sectors. Watching the film "The Sky of Our Childhood", created in 2023, will bring together representatives of various sectors in a discussion of a solution to a common problem, open up an opportunity to get acquainted with positive solutions to the problem proposed earlier by experts in this field, and identify further practical steps to achieve a common goal aimed at the well-being of Bishkek residents.
🗣️👥The discussion was attended by Ashimova Dinara Ashimovna, Member of the Jogorku Kenesh, Ambassador Alexey Rogov, the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, as well as members of the Green Alliance of Kyrgyzstan and others.
