Urifah is a dedicated teacher in Indonesia who not only educates pupils in traditional subjects but also raises awareness about ecology and biodiversity. She incorporates environmental themes into her lessons, inspiring children to appreciate and protect nature. Urifah’s favorite insect is the Attacus atlas moth, one of the world’s largest moths, known for its majestic wings. She uses it as a symbol of ecological beauty and fragility, teaching students about its life cycle and habitat. Urifah is now developing creative educational tools and community workshops to foster environmental stewardship among youth and encourage local conservation efforts in her region.
To support Urifah’s inspiring work, we translated a children’s book about the Attacus atlas moth from Indonesian into Russain to let all Russian speaking schoolgirls and schoolboys learn more about this wonderful species we need to conserve.
