Poetry for the Planet is a creative movement that uses the power of words to inspire environmental awareness, emotional connection, and climate action. Through readings, workshops, and digital campaigns, poets from around the world express the urgency of the ecological crisis and the beauty of our shared planet. These poetic works often blend personal reflection with global issues—touching on biodiversity, loss, hope, and regeneration. Whether performed at protests, published in anthologies, or shared on social media, poetry becomes a tool for healing and mobilization. Poetry for the Planet reminds us that art can shape imagination, empathy, and sustainable futures.
Parneet Kaur is the visionary founder and Executive Director of Poetry for Planet, a global, youth-led movement amplifying underrepresented climate champions through poetry and storytelling. Debuting at COP15 in Montreal (2022) and speaking at COP28 in Dubai, she brings an intersectional, decolonial lens to climate advocacy.
Dobrosphera created a heartfelt poem about soil for the Poetry for Planet contest, weaving themes of regeneration, memory, and resilience. Inspired by circularity and land-based traditions, the piece reflected on how soil carries stories of the past and seeds for the future. Written collaboratively by our creative team, the poem blended science with emotion, highlighting soil’s vital role in climate balance, food systems, and our shared responsibility for nurturing the Earth.

What is in our power?
I run my hands
Into the earth.
Hearing the sounds of nature,
I listen:
We are debtors of luck,
People.
We will continue to live on Earth.
The soil is our womb.
Valuable.
We should preserve it.
Right.
We will take care of it, and then we will have
Happiness:
In our children's health
Power.
How can we see this connection? Children - the future - nature.
Soil. People. Chamomile. Elm. This is a secret of this kind:
Our grains feed the faces, At work, In the underpass, and on the plane... And we give them the earth to drink.
Since time immemorial, ecosystems of birds, animals and insects exist on Earth, where we call friends in our spare time,
Go to the theater on Sunday, Buy bee honey, Save a good shot,
And the earth for us is carbon,
We support each other, And the earth for us is the purity of Mountain rivers...
With a laptop in our hands, We choose our food...
Our children walk from school, Giving everyone a ringing laugh, Discussing their jokes, And they have no problems.
We cherish them, we give them Names at birth, We often raise them in pairs,
And the earth - its seeds,
So that trees are everywhere, Hiding roots in the sand, Maintaining a stable climate Calling clouds with leaves,
So that we learn the secret (here it is)
In a hurry, without taking our eyes off:
Children are the future - nature.
Soil. People. Chamomile. Elm.
